On Monday and Tuesday there will be plenty of opportunities to exercise your Ferrari (or rental car):
Shell Pleasure Drive
Through Lake Seneca wine country
Monday morning, September 17th
This Pleasure Drive is open to all Meet registrants (F1/F2/F3) and guests. It is a great opportunity to exercise your Ferrari (or rental car) in a non-stressful way, while enjoying some of the interesting sights in and around Corning, Watkins Glen and Lake Seneca.
The Shell Pleasure Drive will start in the main parking lot of Wegmans Food Market, near the western end of Corning's Market St. Due to the large expected turnout, participants will be assigned different meeting and starting times beginning at 9:00 am. If you register for this Pleasure Drive, you will be notified by email, in early September, of your assigned start time.
The Pleasure Drive will take you through the scenic byways of New York's Finger Lakes region, including a section of the original 1948 Grand Prix Course in Watkins Glen. Arrangements have been made to have your car photographed crossing the famous and iconic Stone Bridge. You will be able to purchase the photo of your car's crossing for your memory album.
The Drive will end at Glenora Wine Cellars where all participants can enjoy a gourmet lunch (on a self pay basis) in the Veraisons Restaurant overlooking the shores of Lake Seneca.
Shell Competitive Rally: to Watkins Glen International
Tuesday morning, September 18th
This is going to be a fun Rally -- the cars that come closest to the official time, while correctly answering the most questions, will win the trophies! This Rally is open to all Meet registrants (F1/F2/F3) and guests.
The Shell Competitive Rally will also start in the main parking lot of Wegmans Food Market, with a mandatory participants meeting where detailed rally and safety instructions will be distributed and discussed. Due to the large expected turnout, entrants will be assigned different meeting and starting times beginning at 8:00 am. If you register for this Rally, you will be notified by email, in early September, of your assigned start time.
The Rally route will take you through scenic back roads between Corning and Watkins Glen; retracing part of the original 1948 Grand Prix street racing course through the town; and includes crossing the iconic Stone Bridge for a souvenir photo, which you can purchase for your memory album.
All cars should finish at the track in time for lunch. F1 and F2 participants will have lunch provided in the Glen Club. Other participants will be able to obtain lunch at the track concession.
